Drake Mouthpieces have become known around the world for their high quality, innovative designs and unique material make up.

Drake is the first mouthpiece maker to utilize ceramic material to enhance the acoustic properties of our products. Our mouthpieces are revered for their accurate, immediate response and their incredible intonation stability and projection qualities.

Aaron Drake personally hand faces and finishes every mouthpiece. Aaron is an accomplished saxophonist with Bachelor and Master Degrees in Performance from the Eastman School of Music. He is also the recipient of a "Downbeat" award for outstanding soloist, and has toured throughout Europe and America.

This mouthpiece design embodies the acoustic design characteristics of the bebop era. Charlie Parker and Sonny Stitt immediately come to mind when you play the Bebop Classic. Features include a rollover baffle, flat internal side walls, an elongated window and a medium chamber. The attack is immediate and crisp, and the core sound is direct and full. Each mouthpiece is hand crafted by Aaron Drake from our innovative Vintage Resin material and includes our double rail ligature, cap, mouthpiece bag and carrying case.

We have designed this exciting new model to embody the characteristics of the great vintage NY Meyers with the added control and response qualities that Drake has become know for. The rollover baffle transitions to a gradual floor slope that delivers the air column at a carefully calibrated angle to give maximum projection and depth of tone. The medium "venturi" type chamber also contributes to a controled evenness of timbre through the registers. The beak angle and body dimensions have also been design for optimal embouchure comfort and beauty.

Drake David Sanborn Model 8 VR

The acoustic concept of the Drake Sanborn Model is established on a three-tiered baffle design, with a medium, Venturi chamber. It features hand-polishing of the primary baffle, hand-contouring of the chamber and satin-finished second and third baffles. The baffle transitions are left un-touched so as to create a crisp line that creates turbulence in the air flow. This helps to facilitate certain desirable upper partials in the sound. It is a very free-blowing mouthpiece, with just enough resistance to achieve your intended tonal color and expressive nuance.
